How are things going in California, the formerly Golden State? Well, its image is quite tarnished in the view of many Americans sickened by its soft-on-crime policies, with that disgust being particularly severe for Estates Consignment store owner Albert Marcu saying he is sick and tired of the California crime crisis after he had to fight off a band of sledgehammer-wielding robbers.

As background, the Bay Area business owner used a firearm, a .38 Special revolver, to fight off a group of masked, would-be bandits who rushed into his store with sledgehammers and making a beeline for the store’s glass case of valuables.

Describing the incident and how his firearm scared off the robbers to NBC Bay Area, Mr. Marcu said, “I told them to ‘watch it’ and they saw my gun and ran away luckily. I didn’t have to shoot anybody, I didn’t want to shoot anybody anyway but too many crimes happened around us.”

Continuing, he noted that his employees have to remain armed, saying, “We have firearms and my staff carry their own firearms for at least two or three years when all this nonsense started.” He added, “Looking at what happened in the Bay Area here, I was kind of prepared and just waiting that one day they would be here too.” Then, describing the government’s failure to handle the problem, he said, “The police catch them and the DA let them loose. It’s terrifying living in California.”

And now, after that, Mr. Marcu is saying that “enough is enough.” Such is what he told Fox News after the incident, saying that crime is a common occurrence for business owners in the area and that the politicians aren’t doing anything to stop it. “Lots of crimes happened around us. Many stores that get robbed, smashed [are] around here,” he said. “But, you know, a few miles from us, it’s like Walnut Creek city, Danville, San Ramon. And enough is enough. Nobody is doing anything,” he added.

Continuing, he furiously noted that the politicians collect their taxpayer-funded check for the supposed purpose of dealing with issues and making the community better for its residents, yet they’re doing absolutely nothing to fix the crime issue. “We have to take a stand. You know, we pay our politicians to do something about it, but nothing is being done,” he said.

Mr. Marcu then noted that crime is up substantially in his area and that the crime crisis is having a significant, deleterious effect on business. He said, “The crime increased almost 30%. And daily, things happen. Customers are afraid to go out, are afraid to shop, and they are coming and they talk with me, and they are all complaining about this awful situation.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis hammered California Governor Gavin Newsom over the state of California’s major cities, particularly San Francisco, during the recent debate between the two governors. At one point, for instance, he said, “Gavin Newsom was mayor of San Francisco. So he took the San Francisco model, turned that into a template for California’s collapse. Now the left wants to take the California model and use that as a template for America’s collapse.”
