Trump Blows Biden Record Out Of The Water With Smashing Success At Weekend Fundraising

On the night of Saturday, April 6, former President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign and the Republican National Committee announced that they set the record for a single fundraiser for a presidential campaign, as they raked in a whopping $50 million over just one night. This new Trump record comes after President Joe Biden’s campaign garnered a then-record $25 million in donations when President Biden appeared with former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama in New York City.

Announcing the smashing success in a press release on April 6, the Republican National Committee said, “Today, the Trump campaign and Republican National Committee (RNC) announced that President Trump’s Palm Beach dinner will raise over $50.5 million – smashing every fundraising record in history for a Republican or Democrat.”

Continuing, the statement pointed out that this huge success with the megadonors was double Biden’s haul, and that Trump is making inroads with a grassroots, small-dollar fundraising strategy as well. It said, “This comes after Biden’s desperate New York event took three presidents to raise just $25 million, and as the Trump campaign and RNC’s small dollar fundraising program continues to grow each month.”

Quoted in the statement were Trump campaign senior advisors Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, who said that the night was a hugely successful one for both the party and the former president’s political campaign. They said, “Tonight will be an incredible night for President Trump and the Republican Party, raising an astounding $50.5 million.”

Continuing, they explained why former President Trump is doing so well right now, saying, “Meanwhile, after locking up the nomination in one of the fastest primaries in modern political history, Donald J. Trump is winning poll after poll and proving that the enthusiasm is on his side. It’s clearer than ever that we have the message, the operation, and the money to propel President Trump to victory on November 5.”

The RNC heads were quoted in the statement as well. Those two co-chairs, Michael Whatley and Lara Trump, said, “The success of tonight’s event is proving what we already know: Americans are fed up with Biden’s record of failure, from the open southern border and sky-high inflation to the migrant crime crisis that has made everyone less safe.”

They added that, now that Ronna McDaniel is gone from the RNC and it is under new leadership, the GOP is firmly in former President Trump’s camp headed into the election. In their words: “The Republican Party is united behind the effort to elect President Donald J. Trump, and Americans are lining up to join our movement and retire Crooked Joe Biden once and for all.”

Though Trump won over the weekend with his record-setting fundraiser, he is still far behind Biden in terms of total cash raised. As of March, the Trump campaign and RNC had raised $65.6 million and had $93.1 million in cash on hand. Meanwhile, the Biden Campaign and DNC, as of March, had raised $90 million together and had $192 million in cash on hand. That was as of March, however, so the weekend’s fundraising will help Trump and the RNC cut into Biden’s lead somewhat.
