Proudly Christian actor Mark Wahlberg just detailed his plans to build a Hollywood-like studio in his hometown of Las Vegas, a project that could eventually create ten thousand jobs. That interview was with Fox Business. In it, Wahlberg doubled down on his plans to build a “Hollywood 2.0” “state-of-the-art” studio in Las Vegas, a project he originally brought up when he fled California.
Speaking about that plan in the interview, Wahlberg doubled down on it, saying that it was “absolutely” his goal to build such a studio and create thousands of jobs. “We’re looking to create 10,000 jobs on the studio alone,” Mr. Wahlberg said.
Continuing, he emphasized that those would be good, high-paying jobs, saying, “The average salary would be $100,000 more than what it is now. We want to train people both in front of and behind the camera, create jobs, most importantly, first and foremost, for locals.”
Adding to that and explaining why he thinks he can draw talent out of California and into Vegas, he said, “And then, after that, I think we can attract a lot of people. The housing market is great.” Emphasizing that point with anecdotal, personal evidence, Wahlberg said, “When I moved here, I brought probably like 15 or 20 people that work with me also moving here. They went from three-bedroom houses that they were really struggling to pay rent for. And now they have a six-bedroom house. And it’s, you know, half the cost.”
He also noted that the quality of life is better in Vegas than in California, saying, “And, you know, they walk their dogs. They’re in a gated community. They’ve got the school right there two blocks down the road. It’s just a much better lifestyle here and more affordable.”
Wahlberg also emphasized that Vegas is, thanks to the new Republican Governor, a good place to do business and there are lots of opportunities for growth. In his words, “There’s lots of opportunity for growth here. And the government, especially our new governor, is really looking for opportunities to create jobs outside of gaming.”
He also said, “We want to create lots of jobs here. We’re always looking for new opportunities and new adventures. I hope to create of a lot of opportunity here.”
And it’s not just movie production that Wahlberg is bringing to Vegas to create jobs. He also recently opened a new Wahlburgers location in Mandalay Bay, telling Fox News Business at the time:
“It’s actually a location that I happened to find with some of my friends that worked both at MGM and Mandalay Bay. Our first restaurant in Vegas, the Horseshoe, is our largest revenue earner in all of our 90 something restaurants in the portfolio. So it’s a great market for us.”
“What we find is that people from all over the country and people from all over the world who have had Wahlburgers and want a taste of home end up gravitating towards those locations. So it’s really exciting.”
